Maximilian O. Kha, better known as Max or The Master of Coffee, is a professional treasure hunter and guardian of Chaos Coffee. He is a contemporary of the Future Fear storyline.
General description[]
“Some people hunt treasure for its historical value. Others, for its monetary value to those who appreciate its historical value. Me? I just like the traps that guard them. ”
Max has two main motives in life: upholding the Kha family heritage, and adventure. Cocky and apathetic towards everything except steeped beverages, he'll lend a hand in sticky situations, but only for the thrill of it and not any altruistic reasons. He also shirks responsibility, refusing to take charge of much of anything.
History[]
Max was raised as an only child in the strict, secretive Kha household. He was trained in various martial arts by his father, Lon, and mother, Chai. As he grew older, Max was dissatisfied with the methodical ways of his parents and began to sneak out at night in search of adventure.
When he was fourteen, Max found a secret passage in the wine cellar of the Kha mansion and followed it. Through agility, acuity, and accident, he made his way past several traps and obstacles to discover the Chaos Coffee Tree. Suddenly his father appeared behind him, explaining that Max could have learned the less dangerous route to the tree had he waited a short while longer. Nonetheless, Lon figured Max was ready to take on the mantle of his ancestors.
For the next three years, Max was trained in the secrets and use of Chaos Coffee. After this period, his parents left Ninjago and never returned. Max would later deduce that their disappearance was politically motivated. With no one to account to but himself, Max ditched the needless formality of his youth and lived a more...extreme lifestyle.
